As we endeavor to add an additional age group to our camps, we realize that we need to stay focused on the quality of our services.

There are eight policy goals, all of which we meet and exceed.

Keeping young people safe and protected from harm.

  • Funcamps had 56 participants actively engage in our 2021 summer camp.
  • All of our participants feel safe and create bonds with our experienced staff.
  • All safety precautions are taken as the participants engage in activities. 

2.

Achieve full potential in learning, development and education.

At Funcamps our Adventure education specialists expose the participants to many games and activities that encourage: 

  • Participation 
  • Trust building 
  • Critical thinking 
  • Decision making

At Funcamps we use “FUN” to educate our participants about the importance of positive life skills: 

  • Self – Control 
  • Communication 
  • Making connections 
  • Handling disappointment

Minimize antisocial behavior.

The natural setting of Darrell’s Island provides a culmination of teachable moments. We use every opportunity to teach our participants about antisocial behavior: 

  • Bonfires 
  • Early morning stretch and exercise 
  • At the end of each activity we debrief(Ecosystem of support vid)

At Funcamps we minimize antisocial behaviors by rewarding positive behavior. At the conclusion of each camp we award 8 people with special awards:

  • Leadership award

Increase employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Funcamps supports other small businesses such as:

Engage youth in sport, culture, and recreation.

At Funcamps we expose our participants to a variety of sports. However, we pride ourselves on how we engage youth in culture and recreation. 

Culture 

  •  We teach them how to work together to catch, prepare, and cook fish. 
  •  We teach them which plants are edible, and which plants are poisonous. 
  • We teach them which plants are endemic to Bermuda. 

Recreation 

  • We encourage them to take risks, and come outside of their comfort zone. 
  • We expose them to activities that push boundaries.
